La Jolla Wedding

Byron and JoDee had a beautiful ceremony on the cliffs in La Jolla. The fact that red was her color sure made it even better for me!!! Yay Red! The ceremony was at Calumet Park and the reception at Maranatha in Rancho Bernardo. Byron’s dad performed part of the ceremony too … that was really sweet.

Sign of Maturity

“The first sign of maturity is the discovery that the volume knob also turns to the left.”

Oh my goodness! I’m mature!
We were driving down to San Diego and my kids were listening to their music.  Now, it was good music … upbeat and fun to move around to, but …… it was too loud for me!

Oh my gosh!!  I’ve turned into …

my parents!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are our little “angels” ….. I was making fun of these pictures with them the other day. I won’t announce what I was teasing them about. I did tell them they looked funny .. except the younger two … I just told them they looked unfed and unkept. Maybe it’s because they were. These were from our roadtrip and they wanted to stop the driving already. We still had four more hours at this point, I think. But we were taking our sweet time … then we made them get out and take pictures …. hahaha! We are such AWESOME parents!!!!!!!!

Look at those faces!!!!! (Loud music pay back. :) )

Deer Crossing ..

How do they get a deer to cross at that yellow road sign? -anonymous

So I had read this question a while back. Then we went on the road for a vacation. Yep, the husband (Michael), all four kids and I. We hit the road and drove to Oregon and then Northern Washington to hang with some friends who live really close to Canada.

While we were there, we were taught the finer points of driving when deer cross your path up in “them thar mountains.” I had to smile because I thought of that question … How do they get deer to cross at those signs?!! Needless to say I did NOT want to drive up there. David told us NOT to avoid the deer on the road but to just brake and hit it if you must. Yikes! But it makes sense… he told us about all the deaths and injuries people have from trying to avoid them. So glad that the only things that dart out here in California are … crazy drivers and obnoxious kids.

I didn’t get many pictures on our trip. Bad mom! Our friends in Northern Washington live on a lake. The kids LOVED being there and having access to the four big dogs, the lake, the four big dogs and the great outdoors … and did I mention the four big dogs?? Poor city kids….

My son even went on a canoe with a new friend. Luckily I wasn’t around to freak out. It was just the guys.

Our friends David and Kass took us out on their lake during sunset to show the kids the turtles. I was too chicken to bring my big old camera but I put my little point and shoot Fuji in a baggie and got some shots!

The guys and three of the kids trying to fish. Well … I don’t know if there was MUCH of an attempt really.

Here I am with my second daughter … check out that sunset!! Thanks for the shot Kass!!

And here’s D&K’s little angel … isn’t she adorable? She’s such a cute and sweet baby - like mom … but we think she’ll be nutty and free like her daddy!

It was gorgeous up there!! Seriously … beauty everywhere and such peace. We really miss it already.

Finally on the drive … I spotted this thing right off the main road! What is this thing??!!!!!!!

Fun with the Prutch Crew

We recently went on a vacation. We took a road trip to Oregon and Washington. I’ll post more on our trip when I get a chance to look at the pictures we took. I did find these. We stopped in on JP, Amy and their boys. JP and Amy are photographers in Vancouver, WA. They are such a riot. We had a great time at lunch with them. Those two sure know how to eat! They took us to McMenamins. They had these Deep fried Cajun tater tots!!! Ohmigosh!!! Artery clogging heaven!!!!! Thanks guys!!

Here are some pics we took after lunch. All I had was my little Fuji point and shoot. JP and Amy had their ‘real’ camera. Here we made our kids take pictures. See what happens when there are too many photographers taking a shot? The people just don’t know who to look at!! Ya think we’d know that, huh??!!!dscf1941.jpg

Then we got one with all the kids… can you tell they are the offspring of photographers?

And here is one of the Prutch family. The little boy at the top that looks like an adopted child from an Asian country …. well, he’s ours …. he just would NOT get out of the shot!! Ham!dscf1953.jpg

Why We Have Children

God gave us our children to remind us that we’re not as great as we think we are and also that sometimes we’re greater.

Wow … my brain can’t handle my own deep thoughts. I have a headache now. Can you tell I had an interesting week with my kids? The other day, my son woke up and kept clearing his throat. (Yup, an allergy kid.) Now mind you this was no ordinary throat clearing. It sounded like someone trying to start an flooded engine –over and over again! So annoying!! And so I took my young son aside and I explained the proper way to politely clear his throat. I explained that he could also .. just go drink some water! So today I wake up and am just dismayed when I hear the same thing AGAIN … but this time …. it was coming from me!!!  I turned around and went back to bed. (I didn’t appreciate God’s sense of humor that early in the morning. :) )

I’m sure you parents can relate!  I photographed these two little boys.  Their mother, Rachael, and I had a grand old time chatting about parenthood during that session.  She has two little boys and another on the way!  Go Rachael, go!!  :)
