How do they get a deer to cross at that yellow road sign? -anonymous
So I had read this question a while back. Then we went on the road for a vacation. Yep, the husband (Michael), all four kids and I. We hit the road and drove to Oregon and then Northern Washington to hang with some friends who live really close to Canada.
While we were there, we were taught the finer points of driving when deer cross your path up in “them thar mountains.” I had to smile because I thought of that question … How do they get deer to cross at those signs?!! Needless to say I did NOT want to drive up there. David told us NOT to avoid the deer on the road but to just brake and hit it if you must. Yikes! But it makes sense… he told us about all the deaths and injuries people have from trying to avoid them. So glad that the only things that dart out here in California are … crazy drivers and obnoxious kids.
I didn’t get many pictures on our trip. Bad mom! Our friends in Northern Washington live on a lake. The kids LOVED being there and having access to the four big dogs, the lake, the four big dogs and the great outdoors … and did I mention the four big dogs?? Poor city kids….

My son even went on a canoe with a new friend. Luckily I wasn’t around to freak out. It was just the guys.

Our friends David and Kass took us out on their lake during sunset to show the kids the turtles. I was too chicken to bring my big old camera but I put my little point and shoot Fuji in a baggie and got some shots!
The guys and three of the kids trying to fish. Well … I don’t know if there was MUCH of an attempt really.

Here I am with my second daughter … check out that sunset!! Thanks for the shot Kass!!

And here’s D&K’s little angel … isn’t she adorable? She’s such a cute and sweet baby - like mom … but we think she’ll be nutty and free like her daddy!

It was gorgeous up there!! Seriously … beauty everywhere and such peace. We really miss it already.
Finally on the drive … I spotted this thing right off the main road! What is this thing??!!!!!!!
