Traffic Stinks!

Why is it when I am not in a hurry to get somewhere, I get all the green lights and the freeway is empty? Then when I have to get from point A to point B in a short amount of time .. EVERYONE is on the freeway??!!!!!!!! And it’s not normal people on the freeway during those times, it’s all the crazy drivers! (I guess that would include me?? :))

I finished up a wedding in at the Redondo Beach Chart House. Anyway .. I had to get to the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point to help a friend with a wedding over there. It was a Saturday! It was only 3pm and there was traffic!!! Everywhere!! Okay, so now I’m just venting .. but I’m done. So how was YOUR day? :)
Okay, here are a couple of pictures from the Redondo Beach wedding of Patrick and Eileen. The Irish sure are a lot of fun! This sweet, fun couple is now in Ireland on their honeymoon. I told them they should bring a honeymoon photographer along but … they said no! The nerve! :) :) :)

Seniors …

I recently photographed some senior (high school) students. These gorgeous girls are Kara, Nadine and Kimber. Nadine’s family ordered an album so you can see more of hers in this link: Nadine. Photographing all these seniors started me thinking about my senior year. It really hurt my brain thinking back that far, so I stopped and rested on the sofa. :) a.jpgc.jpgb.jpg

Weddings and Donuts?

Remember how I said I would share unique and cute things I’ve seen at weddings? Well, this isn’t really one of those things but I just had to share anyways because I’m hungry. I did this sweet & intimate wedding at Angelo’s & Vinci’s in Fullerton. Aside from the wonderful couple, Jeremy and Jessica …. I really, really enjoyed the Italian Donuts sold at the “To Go” window. They are called zeppole. It was on the recommendation of my brother-in-law who is a law enforcement officer! (Go figure!) Okay, so donuts have nothing to do with unique ideas and things for a wedding, but it sure sounds good doesn’t it? I want one now. Hmmmm… Gotta go… gotta Goggle ‘zeppole’ … maybe I’ll find a recipe. :) jerjes008b.jpgjerjes032.jpg

Mae Surrounded and Sweating

A few weeks ago I had a short bout of insanity and decided to teach a Children With Parent photography class. It was a warm week and thus insanity passed .. but not before realizing that I had announced the class! :) So … I scheduled it. There I was .. surrounded by fourteen 9,10, 11 and 12 year olds and their moms! I wiped the sweat off my brow and eased myself slowly into position hoping they wouldn’t spot me. By the way, I don’t usually sweat so you can imagine the amount of pressure involved in this endeavor. So there I was explaining how a camera works, about shutter speed, and how to compose an image. They sat enthralled with their mouths opened in awe. (Actually, I think it’s because it was really hot and I forgot to offer them water.) Then the first hand went up! (A question — a deep, well thought out technical question - I was sure of it!) “Umm.. Miss Mae, can we go outside yet?” Yes folks, there it was … the gauge of my well prepared presentation. In the end the parents asked for more classes! What are these parents thinking?!! (Maybe they were using it as punishment for disobendience in their homes. Hmmm..) Okay, here are a few of their creations. They did well! There were more but I just grabbed the first few I could find.photoclasssamples.jpg

A Ring for the Rings …

Well, today I was thinking about all the weddings I’ve photographed and things that really stood out from the crowd. I was thinking about things couples did, said or used during the wedding that stuck in my memory because I thought, “Hey! I should get married again so I can do that!” I’d keep the same groom though. (Had to say that because “the husband” does frequent my blog. :)) Okay … here’s a unique ‘item’ from a wedding I photographed at the Four Seasons in Maui. They didn’t use a traditional wedding pillow for the rings. They used a ring for the rings. The pewter ring had an inscription on it too - about the neverending circle that the ring symbolizes. Very cool. Don’t ya think??!!
