I’m Smiling …

I’m smiling because you’re my brother! I’m laughing because there is nothing you can do about it. -Anonymous

I read that quote and remembered this image. These are the groom’s children. Ira & Margo were married at Wayfarer’s Chapel with the reception at Marina Hotel in San Pedro.

You Don’t Have to Agree …

You don’t have to agree with me, but its quicker. -Anonymous

I know it says Anonymous but the author MUST be married! Wouldn’t those marital “discussions” get resolved so much quicker if one side followed that train of thought? I’m sure all you married people out there are chuckling. I think if we just all learned to “let it go” and “agree to disagree” it would be much easier. Don’t ya think? Now, doesn’t it sound like I am such an awesome wife? You would think from this writing that I am. Remind me never to let you speak to my husband. For that matter, I hope he doesn’t read my blog this week. I hate when he has ammo to use on me! :) Okay, I think I’m scaring the engaged folk out there! Fear not! It’s not that bad! :) Guys, just learn to smile and hug her a lot. Oh, and don’t try to always solve the problems she brings up. (Sometimes she doesn’t want it solved … she just wants you to listen, smile, and hug her. However, there are times that she will want you to solve problems. Therein lies a problem, figuring out which ones she wants solved, and which she doesn’t … :) Sorry dude, can’t help you there.) Now for the wife-to-be … just love him and be proud of him and let him know how proud you are of him. (Try hard even when he embarrasses you or irritates you or “cuts one” in front of your parents.) Try to remember that you were sane when you fell in love with him and remember his most redeeming qualities and then tell him you are proud of him for those. If you can get through planning a wedding … marriage should be just fine. :)
I did an engagement session recently with a fun couple. It think they’ll get by on their humor when they don’t agree. Matt and Shelly are to be married this fall at Los Willows in Fallbrook. (I love Fallbrook!!)

Here are more of them to be used for a guestbook: Matt & Shelly

The Nice Thing …

“The nice thing about meditation is that it makes doing nothing quite respectable.” -Paul Dean.

My family and friends tell me I have too much energy and that I need more down time and more sleep. So I try to stop myself, in the middle of my work, and give myself “quiet time” and usually one of three things happen. One, I get my prayer time. Two, I think of too many other things. Three, my kids happen (need I say more?).

I had a number two day the other day. I started thinking about the ocean and the waves - peaceful - calm - beautiful - the swaying ocean plants - the fish swimming around - fish tacos - Santa Barbara - whoa! So I tried again and thought about the mountains and the trees - green - fresh air - peaceful - calm - lakes - ripple of water - upstream - swimming - Salmon - fish tacos - Santa Barbara. Apparently my mind was on dinner. Of course it WAS near dinner time and I hadn’t made dinner yet … that was probably the problem with trying to find peace at that time of day. I told my husband we had to drive to Santa Barbara for fish tacos. Never mind that it’s a three hour drive. :) Well, that didn’t work and I made dinner - no fish, no tacos, no quiet time. It was a sad day. :(
So if you ever go to Santa Barbara, can you stop and get me some fish tacos at this little Mexican Italian food-stand restaurant on State Street and Chapala? I don’t even know its name! It used to be called Don Pepe’s but it isn’t anymore. We discovered it when I shot a wedding out there. I didn’t take a picture of my taco :(. Of course I don’t make it a habit to take pictures of my food. Instead I have a picture of the bride and groom. (Not that THAT’s bad - they were a sweet couple with great guests!) Seeing them takes me back to the beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse , the smell of the ocean, and wonderful fish tacos. :) The reception was at the El Paseo Restaurant and they were good too, but I was still craving my fish tacos from earlier that day. He’s a link to more from the wedding: Isaac & Vicky

I gotta find a better time for my “quiet time.”

If Evolution Really Works …

“If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?” - Milton Berle

Oh that is such a cool quote. I think we should’ve had twenty four hands by now! Having children is such a blessing - most days. But honestly, c’mon … it’s not always a bed of roses. But when those little ones sleep, or say something sweet - ah … all that craziness and insanity and gray hairs they gave you that day seem to disappear! (Well, sorta. :-) ) So imagine the mass of craziness and the HUGE joy you’d have with twins! A two for one! Buy one get on free! (Like kids are EVER free!) Well, to those parents I give a great big toast! First of all carrying multiples in you! I had a hard enough time moving with one little baby! My hats of to you moms of multiples! …then to push those babies out! Wow!! God knew it wouldn’t have been a pretty site if it had been me pushing out twins. This post is a toast (a rhyme!! :-) ) to all those multiples and to their moms!! Here are some images from a portrait session with twins I shot the other day. Emily and Jessica - beautiful. I tried to get the parents to name one of these babies Mae but …. I don’t get it … they wouldn’t!! Some people! ;-) Woj135.jpgTwinsW069.jpg
